Jeevodaya was established on August 15th 1991, in Chennai, India. It is one of the most humanitarian and challenging projects of our times in India. A group of committed people belonging to various religions and from different parts of the country have come to gether with the noble aim of rendering continuing service to the "POOR & ABANDONED CANCER PATIENTS". Jeevodaya is thus a supreme example of National Integration and Unity. It is therefore Providence that has most appropriately ordained that JEEVODAYA DAY should coincide with the country's INDEPENDENCE DAY-15th August. JEEVODAYA IS A CHARITABLE & NON PROFIT ORGANISATION. Jeevodaya’s services are now available to all cancer patients irrespective of their social status or the stage of the disease they are in. The chief promoter of the hospice is the Franciscan Clarist Congregation of Alvernia Province Chalakudy-Kerala. The hospice is the second one to be started in India and the first of its kind in South India. It is situated in the serene surroundings of Mathur village a suburban village at the out skirts of Chennai , the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
