Cancer Awareness Camp at Stella Maris College, Cathedral Road on 19.04.2017, for the women's group members. 

62 Women attended this programme.

September 22nd we had a Cancer awareness Programme in Jeevodaya for the local people. Awareness talk was given by Dr.Susila (Assistant Professor, Stanley Medical College). Around 65 members  participated this programme. This programme was initiated by Loyola MSW Students, Ms.Janifer and Ms.Hebsiba.

ANOUNCEMENT:
The second session of IAPC-CC in essentials of PC for 2013 starts on 1st November. Candidates are requested to submit the applications to Jeevodaya on or before 15th of October, 2013. For details of registration and to download application forms log on to IAPC website - www.palliative care.in

While Jeevodaya's main objective is the alleviation of suffering of Advanced Cancer Patients we have realised, the equally important and urgent need to see that less and less patients reach this stage.


Towards this end we have major programs namely

Education : 
Jeevodaya Institute of Palliative Care (JIPC)  is the educational Wing of Jeevodaya Hospice and has been recognised as a Regional Training Centre for Palliative Care by the IAPC [Indian Assn.of Palliative Care].

JIPC conducts "Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care" for doctors and nurses - a 8 week distance learning course- starting 1st June and 1st November every year.

The first batch of students were enrolled for the IAPC CC in Nov.2007. Since then two batches have been trained every year and the XII th batch completed the course in June 2013.


 First workshop on Palliative Care in Tamilnadu - 1994

" Jeevodaya was fortunate to host the first workshop on Palliative Care conducted by doyens in Palliative Care - Dr. Robert Twycross and Ms. Gilly Burn, World Health Organisation (WHO) representatives for developing Palliative Care in India, as early as 1994, while Jeevodaya Hospice was still under construction."


Creating Awareness : 
Awareness program on cancer are also conducted for clubs social organisation , factories ,offices etc.

Screening program for early detection of cancer :
Screening program for early detection of cancer - oral, breast, and cervix from target groups.
